The origin of
Deschênes Group Inc. dates back to 1940 when
François Miville-Deschênes made the
acquisition of Langelier & Fils, a modest distribution
company of plumbing and heating products located
in Old Montréal. The enterprise is renamed
Deschênes & Fils Ltée.
The two older sons of François Miville-Deschênes
joined the family enterprise in 1951 and 1952, while
the youngest son joined in 1954. Mr. Deschênes,
the father, retired in 1959 and sold his shares
to his sons. In 1973, Jacques Deschênes acquired
the shares from his brothers and became President
